Oakland, CA – The Alameda County Board of Supervisors has officially proclaimed April as Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month (ACCM), recognizing the vital role the arts play in fostering community engagement, economic development, and cultural expression. The proclamation was made during a board meeting held in Oakland on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The County and the Alameda County Arts Commission are celebrating the 7th Annual ACCM in California and this statewide month-long event was first established by the California legislature in 2019 and is led by
California for the Arts.
The celebration of Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month provides an opportunity to showcase the rich diversity of artistic and cultural traditions in our community. Events are presented by organizations throughout the County including the Dublin Arts Collective, Fremont Creates, Hayward Arts Council, Livermore Art Association, Pleasanton Art League, Union City Recreation Department and others.
On Friday, April 18 from 4:00-5:00 pm, there will be a Celebration of Arts, Culture & Creativity Month at the Oakland Museum of California. Oakland arts leaders are partnering with California for the Arts and the Alameda County Arts Commission to recognize the importance of ACCM and bring together community members and city, county, and state leaders.
In April, the Alameda County Arts Commission and the Dublin Arts Collective are presenting two Arts, Culture and Creativity Youth Art Exhibitions based on the theme 'Future'. The exhibitions feature works created by youth artists from the Dublin area and are presented at the Alameda County Administration Building, Supervisors’ Lobby Gallery in Oakland and at The Frame Company and Art Gallery in Dublin. The Dublin exhibition will host a reception for the youth artists on Monday, April 28 at 6:00 pm.

Alameda County’s ACCM initiative aligns with California for the Arts’ statewide advocacy efforts, including Arts Advocacy Day on April 23 and the 3rd annual CA Arts & Culture Summit in Sacramento, which brings together artists and policymakers to discuss the impact of the arts, challenges and policy solutions. This year’s ACCM programming connects to the theme "Health, Healing, Hope," and will explore the vital intersection of arts with community wellness and recovery.
In addition to the Future exhibition, the Dublin Arts Collective is hosting a special screening of The M Factor menopause documentary at the Livermore Public Library on April 19. This event will feature a poetry reading by renowned radio personality and entertainer Faith Alpher, offering a unique blend of film and live performance and a Q and A post screening panel featuring Dr Bettina Zatuchni (Pleasanton Gynecology), Julie Rems-Smario (Co-Founder of LEAD-K), Jessica Fitzgibbons and Christine Pham (Fitness Professionals from CrossFit CSA).
Other arts-related events in the Tri-Valley region include the 'Fresh Works' exhibition at the Firehouse Arts Center and the 'Spring Art Show 2025" at the Bothwell Arts Center. For a list of local arts programming, visit the Alliance for the Visual Arts (AVA) website.
The City of Dublin will also make its own proclamation recognizing Arts, Culture, and Creativity Month at an upcoming City Council meeting, further solidifying the city's dedication to fostering artistic expression and cultural enrichment.
With these vibrant celebrations and exhibitions, Alameda County reaffirms its commitment to the arts, providing opportunities for young creatives and fostering a culturally enriched community throughout April and beyond.
