Remote Surveillance Trailer in Carson City, NV

Businesses like yours that exist in today's commercial landscape have to navigate a litany of complex security challenges that go beyond their property and premises. We're talking about criminals intent on trespassing, theft, squatting, vandalism, and more. Unfortunately, conventional security efforts are often underwhelming and ineffective in managing modern risks. That's because traditional systems are reactive, not proactive, by nature. That means they're designed to respond to criminal acts after they've happened. Typical responses from these systems include sounding alarms and notifying the authorities - but only after trespassers are on-site. This type of response leads to unnecessary false alarms and frustratingly slow police response times, giving criminals the opportunity to escape with sensitive assets, data, and more.

Mr. Security Camera was founded to address these shortcomings by offering business owners like you proactive, comprehensive security solutions you can count on. With innovative tools like a remote surveillance trailer in Carson City, NV, you can get ahead of security breaches, deter potential criminals from committing crimes, and solidify the overall safety of your property without having to rely on outdated security models. By focusing on prevention and lightning-fast response times, we help make peace of mind plentiful for today's most successful property owners and managers.

In a few weeks, the state of Nevada will join other states in the nation in a ceremony called Two Lights for Tomorrow. A nationwide initiative, this is a commemoration of the famous ride of Paul Revere along with other riders to warn patriot leaders on an overnight ride on April 18, 1775.

Their goal was to alert Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington, and colonial militias in nearby towns about the approach of British troops before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, thus sparking the Revolutionary War. Two Lights for Tomorrow uses the imagery of those two shining lights as a uniting call for our citizens to celebrate and serve.

America250 Nevada is encouraging statewide participation from the state capitol building to displays at municipal buildings to lights in neighborhoods and homes. The national launch for participation began in February 2025.

On April 18 at 3 p.m., the State of Nevada’s Statehouse will illuminate the cupola with two lights. From the vantage point of the Attorney General Office’s courtyard (100 N Carson St, Carson City), we will hold a ceremony where a proclamation from the Governor will be read, the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride” will be recited, and the lights will be lit in preparation for the anniversary.

This ceremony is to raise public awareness of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and to communicate the meaning of Revere’s ride reminding citizens of their part in the perpetual building of a “more perfect union.”

“The visual of two lights in a window is a simple symbol demonstrating that we’re seeking ways to connect over the ideals of unity,” said Brenda Scolari, director of the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the agency leading the State’s Semiquincentennial effort, which commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. “The two lights symbolize our past and our future and allows us to reflect and make a vision of the future we’d all like to see.”

With the right resources, a life damaged by abuse can turn around, a woman who didn’t want to be publicly identified told the Appeal on Friday.

She was one of dozens of people installing pinwheels in the front lawns of the Capitol Complex to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

She said she’d been in the Advocates to End Domestic Violence shelter with her children for three months after her partner verbally abused her and physically abused the children. Having overcome addiction, now working and going back to school, she said it’s the first time in her life she’s hopeful about the future.

“People don’t understand what a little bit of kindness and stability can do for children,” she said.

AEDV is one resource in the Carson community, and she’d like to see more. She wanted people to know abuse can affect any child, not just the perceived troublemakers. It can be the perfect student in school who is suffering.

Local and state leaders and several participants gathered at the Capitol Complex for a news conference and to install the pinwheels — roughly 900 that will stand through April. The conference was cohosted by AEDV and Prevent Child Abuse Nevada, which is housed at the UNLV Nevada Institute for Children’s Research and Policy.

The purpose of the annual event is “to impress upon the community that child abuse and neglect are serious problems,” according to a news release.

“According to the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services, (in) fiscal year 2024 there were 40,667 reports made, which resulted in 15,102 investigations of abuse and/or neglect statewide,” the release said. “From those investigations, there were 3,044 substantiated reports of child abuse and neglect and there were 2,583 children removed from their homes.”

The nonprofit organizations maintained the pinwheels draw attention to the issue and “symbolize every child’s right to a safe, healthy, and happy life.”

Many attendants wore blue to spread awareness. This year’s theme is “powered by hope, strengthened by prevention.”

Denise Kite, parenting coordinator for AEDV, said one in seven children in the U.S. experience abuse or neglect. She said abuse and neglect are preventable and pointed out only 15 percent of $33 billion spent in the U.S. on child welfare goes to prevention.

Prevention includes economic and social support — affordable child care, paid leave and financial stability, Kite said.

“With hope as our guide and prevention as our strength, we can build a world where every family has what they need to succeed,” she said.

Michelle Saldivar of Prevent Child Abuse Nevada said even small actions like checking in on struggling families can make a difference.

“Let’s be the reason a child feels safe and supported,” Saldivar said.

Nevada District 40 Assemblyman P.K. O’Neill and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong also spoke.

The sheriff said if a sink is overflowing, one would turn off the water before trying to mop it up.

“We need to stop the inflow of children being abused and neglected at home,” he said.

CCSO leads with education and prevention, the sheriff said, and he urged people to be “circling our arms” around families in the community.

O’Neill spoke of setting an example for children, mentioning his grandchildren. He said the pinwheels represent supporting kids through challenges they face and “the joy we want to give them.”

“Our future is their future,” he said.

Thursday, during a board meeting, Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell read into the record a proclamation recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month. The mayor added, “Maybe someday we won’t have to.”

“Let’s do it all year,” she said of prevention efforts. “Let’s work on it all year long.”

Hot Potato Pie is a potato bar that opens Tuesday at 4600 Snyder Avenue inside of the Homegrown Bowl complex, and has everything a potato lover could dream of.

Owner Leticia Fuentes has called Carson City home for the past 20 years, and it is her first foray into being a restaurateur. But she wanted to create something truly unique for the capital city.

“I’ve always had a passion for food and feeding people,” she said. “While I haven’t run a restaurant before, I’ve spent years cooking for friends, family, and events, and I knew it was time to turn that passion into something bigger. I’ve poured a lot of heart into this, and I’m learning every day.”

Menu offerings include cheesy potato wedges, potato pies, loaded baked potatoes with toppings ranging from Italian, to Mexican, vegetarian and more. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

Many people will undoubtedly ask: Why potatoes?

On why she chose potatoes for the restaurant’s main fare, Fuentes said: “Potatoes are just one of those ingredients that bring people comfort — they’re warm, filling, and incredibly versatile. I wanted to create something fun and nostalgic, while still allowing room for creativity and flavor. Hot Potato Pie is all about comfort food with a twist, and potatoes give us the perfect base to build on.”

Fuentes believes that Carson City is the perfect location for such a unique offering, because the capital city is itself unique, and locals will always support each other.

“Carson City felt like the right place from the beginning. It has a tight-knit, supportive community, and I felt there was space for something unique like this. People here appreciate good food and good vibes — and that’s exactly what I want Hot Potato Pie to offer.”

She said that she wants the community to know that, like potatoes themselves, the restaurant is meant to be more than just food, but a place of comfort and coziness.

“I want the community to know that this is more than just a restaurant — it’s a place to gather, to laugh, to enjoy good food, and feel at home. I can’t wait to share it with everyone, and I’m so grateful for the warm welcome we’ve already received.”

The grand opening is happening Tuesday, April 1 at 12 p.m.

“Our goal is to offer something wonderful to Carson City — a place where you can enjoy delicious, hearty meals made with love, while being treated like family,” Fuentes said. “Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, our team is here to ensure your experience is as warm and welcoming as the community we love serving.”
