Robert Kronfli, one of the owners of Bacari, excitedly announced the opening of the 8th Bacari location. "Our newest location in Culver City has officially opened!" said Kronfli. His brother Danny and Chef Lior have another success at this new location. It's open every day for dinner, plus Friday lunch, and weekend brunch. They plan to have weekly live music on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday nights starting at 9 p.m.

This location is extra special, as it’s the first Bacari where the bar is the centerpiece. The stunning bar features a 14-seat setup — the largest of any Bacari location. Bacari Culver City taps into the lively energy of the area blending a vintage European pub-inspired design with warmth and comfort. It's already becoming a true neighborhood gathering spot on Saturdays and Sundays for a long and leisure brunch.

Guests enjoy Bacari’s signature shareable small plates crafted by Executive Chef and Co-Owner Lior Hillel. Favorites include Caramelized Brussels Sprouts dazzling with a pomegranate molasses and creme fraiche; Tuscan Kale Salad with crispy black kale and chopped rainbow kale, Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese, za'atar, sumac that is tossed in a kale tahini dressing.

The ultimate brunch fare includes French Toast made with a thick slice of challah bread soaked in a vanilla creme, then baked and topped with fresh berries and powder sugar. Savory favorites include Shawarma Tacos, Bacari Burger with a fried egg, and Chipotle Chicken Wings.

Order a glass of house red, white, rose' or sparkling wine, as well as a mimosa, Bellini, sangria, two-part well liquor cocktail or Bacari beer and continue to re-order one of these for 90-minutes for $32 per person. If you want one of Bacari's signature cocktails, that will cost you and additional $5 ($37 per person). Everyone at the table must participate and one designated driver is allowed.

Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Culver City Symphony! On Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 7 pm, the Orchestra will perform a celebration at the Robert Frost Auditorium at 7 PM. Admission is free. You can learn more about the event at the Culver City Symphony Orchestra’s website.

Since 2000 the musicians have presented a winter season as the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, and a summer season as the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony. Winter concerts are typically at the Robert Frost Auditorium, Veterans Memorial Auditorium, or Kirk Douglas Theatre. In the summer, they perform in Burton Chace Park.

The program for the April concert will feature a springtime collection of pastoral melodies includes Brahms’ Symphony #2.

Since 1974, the Orchestra has sponsored the Parness Concerto Competition for aspiring young musicians. Following a break due to the pandemic, we are relaunching the Parness Competition in 2024-25.​

LOS ANGELES, CA — A federal court Monday blocked the Trump administration's attempt to strip a Culver City woman and other Venezuelan migrants of lawful immigration status by next week.

U.S. District Judge Ed Chen's ruling in the Northern District of California protects almost 350,000 Venezuelan holders of Temporary Protected Status who were set to lose work authorization on Thursday, and deportation protections on April 7. As a result, they will instead retain their humanitarian protections while the case proceeds.

In the lawsuit filed in February in San Francisco, the National TPS Alliance and seven Venezuelans accuse Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of illegally revoking an 18- month extension of TPS for Venezuelans that was granted by the Biden administration.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson did not immediately reply to a request for comment from City News Service.

In his 78-page ruling, Chen ruled that Noem's revocation threatens to inflict irreparable harm on hundreds of thousands of persons "whose lives, families, and livelihoods will be severely disrupted, cost the United States billions in economic activity, and injure public health and safety in communities throughout the United States. At the same time, the government has failed to identify any real countervailing harm in continuing TPS for Venezuelan beneficiaries."

The judge also sided with plaintiffs in finding that "they will likely succeed in demonstrating that the actions taken by the Secretary are unauthorized by law, arbitrary and capricious, and motivated by unconstitutional animus."

Jose Palma, coordinator of the National TPS Alliance, applauded Chen's ruling.

"In the face of adversity, we stand united," he said in a statement. "Today's victory is not just a legal win, but a testament to the strength of the TPS community and all who fight alongside us. We will continue this fight with unwavering resolve, not only to protect the future of 350,000 Venezuelans, but to defend all TPS holders in this country. Together, we will ensure that the voices of those who seek safety and opportunity are heard, and that no one is unjustly torn from their families."

The named plaintiffs include Hendrina Vivas Castillo, 49, who lives in Culver City and works as a food delivery driver. She said in February that she is "terrified" of going back to Venezuela and does not know what she will do if her TPS is terminated, according to the lawsuit.

One of Japan’s most popular ramen bars, Mensho Tokyo, is expanding to Los Angeles with a location in Culver City. Founded in 2005 by ramen master Tomoharu Shono, Mensho Tokyo has grown to over 20 locations across Japan, Thailand, and China over the last two decades. The ramen bar’s first U.S. outpost opened in San Francisco in 2016, and had two-hour-plus lines on opening weekend; the location has since been included in the California Michelin Guide. The Culver City location will be the first Southern California expansion for Mensho Tokyo.

Mensho Tokyo will take over the former Sweet Lily Bakery in Culver, opening in the heart of downtown near Jameson’s Pub and Nong Lá. Signage on the building is already up, and Shono has teased the construction on his Instagram story, though an opening date has not been announced yet.

Mensho Tokyo may be best known for its signature toripaitan ramen, served with a creamy chicken broth made with shio koji. On top, thick slices of tender duck and pork chashu rest in the almost-opaque broth, surrounded by crispy fried burdock root, slivered green onions, ajitama egg, and king oyster mushrooms. Springy house-made mochi wheat noodles swim in the broth below. Other creative ramens available across Mensho’s locations include a jade green chicken-broth and matcha ramen with sliced duck, a spicy lamb miso cumin ramen with minced lamb, and a soupless mazemen served with pork shoyu tare for dipping. Expect smaller side dishes like garlic edamame and enoki chips on hand to round out meals.

Mensho Tokyo joins an already outstanding line-up of ramen restaurants in Los Angeles, including Hakata-style spot Tsujita, Tokyo’s Afuri, and tonkotsu destination Tonchin. But judging by Mensho’s success globally and in the Bay Area, its unique bowls of ramen are sure to stand out in the Southland. Los Angeles has also seen a recent influx of restaurants from Japan establishing outposts in the city, including bakery Bread, Espresso, & in Redondo Beach, and souffle pancake specialist Takagi Coffee on West Third. Now more than ever, Angelenos can get a taste of Tokyo without having to hop on a flight.
