Remote Surveillance Trailer in Phoenix, AZ

Businesses like yours that exist in today's commercial landscape have to navigate a litany of complex security challenges that go beyond their property and premises. We're talking about criminals intent on trespassing, theft, squatting, vandalism, and more. Unfortunately, conventional security efforts are often underwhelming and ineffective in managing modern risks. That's because traditional systems are reactive, not proactive, by nature. That means they're designed to respond to criminal acts after they've happened. Typical responses from these systems include sounding alarms and notifying the authorities - but only after trespassers are on-site. This type of response leads to unnecessary false alarms and frustratingly slow police response times, giving criminals the opportunity to escape with sensitive assets, data, and more.

Mr. Security Camera was founded to address these shortcomings by offering business owners like you proactive, comprehensive security solutions you can count on. With innovative tools like a remote surveillance trailer in Phoenix, AZ, you can get ahead of security breaches, deter potential criminals from committing crimes, and solidify the overall safety of your property without having to rely on outdated security models. By focusing on prevention and lightning-fast response times, we help make peace of mind plentiful for today's most successful property owners and managers.

Tropical moisture from a Pacific hurricane could intensify late-season monsoon activity in Arizona, contributing to a rainy end to the week in Phoenix.

Hurricane Lorena, which rapidly intensified off Mexico’s coast on Wednesday, Sept. 3, is pushing even more moisture into an already active monsoon pattern. The storm should peak at hurricane strength before weakening into the weekend, but its moisture could push inland even if the storm doesn’t.

“We were already seeing some moisture being pumped up into our area because we finally got the high pressure over the right area,” said Alicia Ryan, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Phoenix. “But the moisture from Lorena will enhance the moisture we’re already expecting.”

Rain chances in Phoenix and across southern Arizona were highest on Thursday, Sept. 4. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in portions of south-central Arizona from the afternoon to the evening on Sept. 4.

When will it rain?

Lorena reached Category 1 strength hurricane on Wednesday, Sept. 3, but was expected to lose steam quickly on Thursday and keep dissipating into the weekend. Its exact track will determine how much moisture makes it into southern Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas, but forecasters say the setup is already primed for storms.

For Phoenix, storm chances were expected to peak Thursday night. Dew points have hovered in the mid-60s, a sign of sticky conditions that could fuel downpours. Storm odds will taper off over the weekend. No rain was in the forecast for Sunday.

Ryan said the storm will weaken as it heads inland, but even its remnants could bring more rain than originally predicted.

How do hurricanes impact Arizona?

The Pacific hurricane season overlaps with Arizona's monsoon in August and September. When the monsoon ridge shifts over the Four Corners region, winds aloft summon tropical moisture north, sometimes bringing the remnants of Pacific hurricanes with it.

“Even without the tropical systems, we get a lot of moisture across Mexico through the Gulf,” Ryan said. “More moisture into our region along with higher temperatures and convection just pops off storms, and that’s why we get our summer monsoon.”

When these systems align, the resulting weather can be dramatic.

In 2014, Hurricane Norbert fueled a storm that dropped 3.3 inches of rain at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in a single day — the city’s wettest day in almost 115 years of record keeping.

Interstate 10 was flooded, with cars poking out from the water. Homes in Mesa flooded, and Chandler was hit the hardest with 5.5 inches of rain. Two thunderstorms had merged, dropping record-breaking precipitation across Phoenix.

While this week’s forecast isn’t expected to rival that day, Lorena is another reminder that even though Arizona is hundreds of miles from the coast, it can still feel the effects of tropical storms when summer heat, monsoonal instability and Pacific storms collide.

Chances for monsoon storms are ramping up!

Thursday will be an ABC15 Weather Action Day as the threat of storms may potentially impact your evening commute.

Remnant moisture from Hurricane Lorena will get caught up in our monsoon flow and significantly increase storm chances Thursday evening into Friday across the Valley.

We could see blowing dust, damaging wind gusts, dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and pockets of heavy rain that could lead to flooding.

A Flood Watch will kick in for the Valley at noon on Thursday, but the best chances for heavy rain and flooding will be in the evening hours.

Across southeastern Arizona, a Flood Watch is in effect from Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with up to 4 inches in the mountains, are possible across this part of our state.

Here in the Valley, we are expecting the majority of the rain to fall on Thursday evening, but storm chances will continue into the start of the weekend.

As storm chances ramp up and cloud coverage moves in, temperatures will drop significantly.

In Phoenix, daytime highs will fall into the mid-90s on Friday and Saturday, putting us nearly 10 degrees below normal for early September.

Gas prices have been going up across the country, and Arizona is feeling the heat.

The national average for a gallon of gas spiked right before Labor Day weekend, increasing by 7 cents, according to AAA. Flooding at a refinery in Indiana, which is the largest refinery in the Midwest, contributed to the spike.

"Mother Nature and geopolitical events can suddenly and unexpectedly impact fuel prices," AAA wrote.

In Arizona, average gas prices have jumped over 20 cents in the past month, according to AAA's Fuel Prices database. Most of that increase can be isolated to the metro Phoenix area. Here's what experts are saying about why.

Why is gas going up?

In Phoenix, prices have increased by 47 cents in the past month, going from $3.25 per gallon to $3.72 as of Sept. 3. Other cities in metro Phoenix are seeing similar jumps; Glendale, for example, saw a price increase of 46 cents in the past month.

Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now.

For comparison, Tucson's Sept. 3 average price of gas, $3.13 per gallon, is only 8 cents higher than a month ago.

It's not unusual for metro Phoenix's gas prices to be significantly pricier than the rest of the state. The farther that gas needs to be transported, the more expensive it tends to be, and cities on the eastern and western borders of Arizona are closer to refineries in California and New Mexico, respectively.

However, it's unclear why the increase is isolated to metro Phoenix, said Julian Paredes of AAA Arizona. Paredes suggested that it might be due to seasonal refinery maintenance, which temporarily shuts down facilities and reduces the amount of gas available.

"So, once maintenance is complete — I don't know how long, usually no more than a few weeks — I'd expect Arizona prices to return to normal barring something unexpected," Paredes said.
