Remote Surveillance Trailer in Prescott, AZ

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help in identifying a man and a woman accused of a "violent assault" on a hiking trail in Granite Basin near Prescott.

Around 8:45 a.m. Sept. 6, a man and woman hiking encountered the people who had a large brown dog, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office. They had a brief conversation about the dog when the male suspect was believed to have punched the male hiker multiple times, the Sheriff's Office said.

When the second hiker attempted to intervene, she was attacked by the female suspect, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The assault ended when the male suspect produced a small black handgun and pointed it at one of the hikers, the Sheriff's Office said. The suspects then left the area and headed toward the main parking lot, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The hikers suffered minor injuries and declined medical transport, the Sheriff's Office said.

The male suspect was described as White in his 30s or 40s with a thin build and slight facial stubble, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The female suspect was described as White in her 30s or 40s with long blonde hair. She was seen wearing dark colored shorts and a white wristwatch, the Sheriff's Office said.

A large brown dog accompanied the couple.

Deputies responded but were unable to locate the suspects who were believed to have left the area before law enforcement arrived, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone who was in the Granite Basin Lake area, including the trails, parking lots or campgrounds on the morning of Sept. 6 and may have seen the couple were urged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 928-771-3260 or submit a tip to Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.

Bach’s brilliant Magnificat – a luminous setting of the Song of Mary filled with divine joy and Baroque splendor. This masterpiece perfectly captures the reverence and radiance of Christmas. The program also includes believed carols and choral works that evoke the peace, hope, and glory of the season, performed with the Prescott Chorale’s signature excellence and holiday spirit.

Saturday Afternoon

Celebrate the lighter side of Christmas with a festive, family-friendly matinee featuring the Prescott Chorale Children’s Choir, directed by Melanie McCally. This heartwarming performance includes favorite carols, joyful surprises, and cherished holiday tunes that will delight both the young and young-at-heart. And of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance to share the joy of the season.

A World Premiere Commission Celebrating 10 years of song. Join in for a groundbreaking musical celebration as the Prescott Chorale proudly presents its first commissioned work – a vibrant and genre-defying Jazz Mass composed by Henry Flurry, Artistic Director of the Arizona Philharmonic, with libretto by the acclaimed Anthony Silvestri.

This bold new composition marks a thrilling artistic milestone for the Chorale and offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the world premier of a major chorale work. Infused with the soul of gospel, the mystery of chant, and the electricity of jazz, this is sacred music re-imagined in a fresh, innovative, and deeply moving musical composition. Expect dazzling solos, lush harmonies, and a dynamic jazz ensemble accompanying the Chorale in a performance that promises both spiritual resonance and musical surprise.

Also on the program is a luminous new short work by celebrated contemporary composer Elaine Hagenberg, known for her emotionally rich and accessible choral writing.

Lisa’s unwavering commitment and selfless dedication to serving veterans and her community truly set her apart. Lisa studied Mathematics in college and, in the late 1980s, taught math to 7th-12th graders at Eastern High School. She also served as an ESL tutor and then worked in banking.

She joined Auxiliary Unit 6 in Prescott in 2022 and is a very active volunteer for veterans in Prescott, and can often be seen playing cards, doing crafts, or working at the annual Stand Down at US Vets.

She has always been eager to help her family and friends since she was young, and Lisa continues this dedication today by actively supporting her family at the Ernest A. Love American Legion Post 6 and aiding veterans within her community.

As the Unit Member of the Year for Arizona, Lisa was honored to attend the National Auxiliary convention in Tampa, Florida in August.

Lisa appreciates the pillars of the American Legion Auxiliary, which include patriotism, service to others, and reverence of faith, and she lives these values every day to provide aid and comfort to many. Her generous and joyful nature, combined with a lively spirit of optimism, inspires those around her and uplifts the entire community.

When not volunteering, Lisa and her husband Eric Thaler, who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion at Post 6, enjoys bike riding and hiking.

Prescott and the American Legion are lucky to have such positive and hard-working members in our community.

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Sunland Asphalt & Construction, are currently working on a pavement preservation and maintenance project along Prescott Lakes Parkway, between SR89 and SR69, and along SR89, between Yavpe Connector and the Willow Lake Road roundabout.

To expedite completion of the project and minimize the impact to the traveling public, residents, and businesses, a portion of the work along SR89 will be completed at night. Detailed information about the upcoming work schedule and related traffic impacts are below:

Prescott Lakes Parkway, from SR89 to SR69:

COMPLETE: Asphalt milling and preparation work.

COMPLETE: Pavement repairs.

September 24 to September 29 (DAY WORK): Two-step pavement preservation application.

September 29 (NIGHT WORK): Pavement preservation within the Prescott Lakes Parkway Roundabout. This work requires a full closure of Prescott Lakes Parkway between Wal-Mart and SR89 for the night.

SR89, from Yavpe Connector to the Willow Lake Road roundabout:

COMPLETE: Pavement repairs.

September 23 and September 24 (DAY WORK): Pavement preservation along the left lanes of SR89 in both directions. This work requires partial closures of driveway entrances along SR89, and the SR89/Yavpe Connector and SR89/Prescott Lakes Parkway intersections while we pave through each intersection. The intersections will be open for right turn ins and right turn outs only during this work. Once paving is complete in an intersection, it will be reopened for full turning movements.

September 25 (NIGHT WORK): Pavement preservation along the turn lanes of SR89 in both directions. This work requires a full closure of driveway entrances along SR89, the SR89/Yavpe Connector and SR89/Prescott Lakes Parkway intersections for each night. Detour routes will be available, please follow the marked signage.

September 30 and October 1 (NIGHT WORK): Pavement preservation within the Willow Lake Road Roundabout. This work requires a partial closure of certain turning movements within the roundabout each night.

October 1 and October 2 (NIGHT WORK): Pavement preservation along the right lanes of SR89 in both directions. This work requires a full closure of driveway entrances along SR89, the SR89/Yavpe Connector and SR89/Prescott Lakes Parkway intersections for each night. Detour routes will be available, please follow the marked signage.
