Since 2017, we've been following an Asian supermarket chain's plans to open a location in Rancho Cordova.
Shun Fat Supermarket, also known as SF Supermarket, is filling part of a former Sam's Club site at 2738 Sunrise Blvd. The project has experienced delays with material and labor shortages as well as with the permitting process, the Business Journal previously reported.
But now, an opening is within reach. SF Supermarket will hold a Nov. 15 grand opening in Rancho Cordova, according to a sign posted at the business.
The former warehouse retail building is being redeveloped to include SF Supermarket as well as an indoor shopping center called Cali Saigon Mall.
Signs posted at the site indicate the mall will include Qing Shu Spicy Hot Pot, Pho Tasty Vietnamese Restaurant, Bober Tea, The Boiling Crab, a salon and a pharmacy and medical office. It's unclear when those businesses will open. It appears additional spots are still available for lease in the mall.
A boba tea and ramen shop in Folsom's Broadstone Marketplace has closed less than a year after opening.
Boomba Tea opened at 2784 East Bidwell St., Suite 300, in April, offering a menu with a variety of boba teas, smoothie teas and food items like ramen, spam musubi and popcorn chicken. A notice has been posted at the business stating Boomba Tea in Folsom has "closed indefinitely."
Boomba Tea's replacement appears to already be in the works. A fictitious business name statement indicates a new eatery called Chennai Bamboo Garden is filling the space.
Reporter Jake Abbott has the latest on the former Boomba Tea space in Folsom.

I'm currently reciting the lyrics to "Pink Pony Club" — for a good reason.

Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant Angry Chickz has been added to leasing materials for a prominent Elk Grove center, which would be the Southern California-based chain's third area site.
Angry Chickz features a menu of hot chicken sliders and tenders, loaded bowls and side dishes such as macaroni and cheese.
Earlier this month, the chain announced on Instagram that it was planning to open an Elk Grove location. Details about a potential location and opening date were not included, only that it would be "coming soon."
Leasing materials for the Elk Grove Commons shopping center have since been updated to include Angry Chickz.
Reporter Jake Abbott explains what Angry Chickz is planning in Elk Grove.
Have a great day, folks. Thanks for reading.
