Remote surveillance trailer in Meeks Bay, CA

Businesses like yours that exist in today's commercial landscape have to navigate a litany of complex security challenges that go beyond their property and premises. We're talking about criminals intent on trespassing, theft, squatting, vandalism, and more. Unfortunately, conventional security efforts are often underwhelming and ineffective in managing modern risks. That's because traditional systems are reactive, not proactive, by nature. That means they're designed to respond to criminal acts after they've happened. Typical responses from these systems include sounding alarms and notifying the authorities - but only after trespassers are on-site. This type of response leads to unnecessary false alarms and frustratingly slow police response times, giving criminals the opportunity to escape with sensitive assets, data, and more.

Mr. Security Camera was founded to address these shortcomings by offering business owners like you proactive, comprehensive security solutions you can count on. With innovative tools like a remote surveillance trailer in Meeks Bay, CA, you can get ahead of security breaches, deter potential criminals from committing crimes, and solidify the overall safety of your property without having to rely on outdated security models. By focusing on prevention and lightning-fast response times, we help make peace of mind plentiful for today's most successful property owners and managers.

MEYERS, Calif. —

Concern is growing in the Sierra over whether snow plows will make it to certain neighborhoods.

People who live in the Tahoe Basin are worried their streets may not get plowed in a timely manner this winter due to a driver shortage.

The plows clear 190 miles of county roads in the neighborhoods of Phillips and Meyers along Highway 50 and 89 and the Meeks Bay community on Lake Tahoe's West Shore.

Lance Gatian is making sure his snow blowers are ready for another Tahoe winter.

"I've had to help the neighbors out of their driveway because it's seven foot tall," he said.

But he said living in Meyers they need help from El Dorado County snow plow drivers to get out of their neighborhood.

Gatian's worried they'll all be stranded amid news the county doesn't have enough drivers to fill the night shifts.

"It's a hiring problem, definitely," said Gatian.

The job posting, which expired Monday, offers up to $34 an hour with a $6,000 bonus, bringing the hourly rate to $36.91.

That's $2-5 less than salaries at surrounding departments.

The county currently employs 16 drivers but needs ten full-time night shift workers.

The county said four people applied and are undergoing background checks.

"When you have a heart attack or stroke and the fire department can't get to you, the ambulance can't get to you, you're going to die," said Carol Gatian.

Carol Gatian wrote a letter to the board of supervisors demanding action. She and her husband attended a standing-room-only meeting recently with the county to get answers. But the couple only left frustrated.

"Somebody's house could burn down from a chimney fire because the fire department couldn't reach them," she said. "That's outrageous. So the liability they're accepting by not having snow removal 24/7 is huge."

The residents said the county needs to find the money to give the drivers the paychecks they deserve for keeping them safe.

"There's plenty of times we wake up in the morning to three feet of new snow, so if no snow plow came, what are we going to do? Sit and wait?" Carol Gatian asked.

Lance Gatian said they live each day at a time during the winter.

"You get wood, you get your food, you stockpile," he said.

Board Chair Wendy Thomas said,

"The issue is far more complicated than simply providing a raise to this subset of employees in this particular bargaining unit and to attract additional people to these positions. The Board of Supervisors will do everything possible within the County's current budget constraints to provide the highest service available to our residents."

Background

The State Route (SR) 89 Fanny Bridge Community Revitalization Project, located in Tahoe City, is identified by Placer County and our partner agencies in the Lake Tahoe Basin as a critical transportation improvement project. The project was envisioned and underwent initial planning as far back as the 1990s. In 2013, the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) garnered significant federal funding to accelerate planning and design efforts with lead implementation by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Office of Federal Lands, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD). Placer County supported TTD’s efforts with local match funding along with county staff support.

The totality of the project scope includes the construction of a new bypass segment of State Route 89 with a new bridge crossing the Truckee River and roundabouts on the east and west side. It also includes the replacement of the signalized Tahoe City “wye” with a new roundabout and replacement of the over 90-year-old Fanny Bridge. Multi-modal improvements, such as the new Dollar Creek paved shared-use path, sidewalks, and bike lanes were incorporated to enhance connectivity and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
